Hawthorn

Project Hawthorn is a development of a previous project called “The Girl In The Window” which has been a successful storytelling event since 2006. This opportunity allowed Sustained Magic to collaborate with a local writer to generate a short play which run as a pre-show event for Derby Lives Shining City Performance in October 2009.

No More Last Orders

The “No More Last Orders” tour is the second tour of its type by Sustained Magic. This tour is a collection of seven new commissions from members of Derbyshire Scriptwriters and Angela Truby, a local writer from the region. Each writer was set the challenge to write a piece around the theme of shared space. The challenge was set that they must use any combination of the four actors and that the piece must not exceed fifteen minutes.

The tour followed an intensive ten days rehearsal period where each 15-minute play received 4 hours of time in order to bring it to life.

Crawl No More

Crawl No More was the third presentation of short plays by regional writers. Building on the success of the previous tours, Crawl No More aimed to take the plays to festivals across the region. Girl in the Window

The Girl in the Window ghost walks brought a whole new audience to the work of Sustained Magic. The ghosts walks were a collection of local stories dramatized and then told by actors as the audience were guided around Ilkeston and Long Eaton. The Girl in the Window project was a sell-out success attracting young and old to walk the cold streets of Erewash at Halloween.
